Santa ClausIt was a memorable 6th month with my dad, as he spent 40 days of his vacation with me and preparing my paper work for Edinburgh stay.  He relished every minute with me and mom.  All these days he missed us so much and also he was planning for job change, I hope this 40 days will revitalize him and recharge him to start his new  job.

As my dad was arranging our visa, being center of attraction with all my relatives, someone presented me with flu. Poor me I was down with  bad cold disturbing mom and both my thatha’s and paatis, even though i was breathing with my mouth wide open, I recovered quickly. Guna paati was also recovering from her cataract surgery.

After a long struggle I got my passport,  Every day I will take a nice and long bath, Oil  and comb  my long hair, put my fancy shoes, cap and go to Coimbatore passport office,   In spite  of my tidy look passport officer kept rejecting my application. Mom frequently visited passport office to help me get the passport, so that by the time my dad is in India we can get the Visa and accompany with him back to UK.  As an active kid, people say I keep kicking and walking in the air, If I would have been walking I would have walked thousand times to passport office with my mom and vijay thatha.  My passport has fingerprints in the size of a grape seed.

My first road trip was from CBE to Banglore for applying UK Visa . I went in Illa machan’s super-fast  Ford car with dad, mom, Vijay thatha and Sathy patti. We stayed in JP appas flat and had fun playing with Jiggu. For Christmas dad dressed me in a Santa Claus costume.

My first temple visit was to our Kula Deviam Kavaya Kaali Amman, and Pattatharasi Amman in Kovil Palayam, where my dad and mom got married. Dad fed me my first solid food a pinch of banana blessed by god and it tasted brilliant.  I have now got couple of teeth confirmed personally by my loving dentist  mom , My daily diet included  massed   raggi, , carrots, boiled apple etc.,

It was so sad to see dad leave to UK after his holidays as he was starting a new job, my mom and I are still waiting for visa and hope to join him soon. Dad we both are eagerly waiting to see you and you take care, will be there soon.

I am 2 months and 2 weeks old now and its time for Moondram Pirai Seer ( the third full moon day after my birth). Its the official welcome ceremony for me to visit my home in seman thottam from Vijay thatha’s house.
The ceremony was conducted by aunties from dad’s side to Mom and myself  in Vijay thatha’s house on 20/10/2012. We both had a ceremonial bath on a cold day morning, mine was hot one and unfortunately mom’s was a cold one. As per the tradition ulaakaai (Traditional Pounder) was placed in my swing to signify me sleeping in it. Kannimaar goddess made by sand were offered flowers and stems of plants from dry and humid land. Pooja was conducted to the goddess signifying their blessings to us in time of bad health and unfavourable situations.

I wore black bangles, black chain and a special black bindi (vengai tree milk) to keep away evil and all the bad spirits nearing me. All my close relatives attended the ceremony and presented me with lots of gold ornaments like chain, bangle, hip rope, bracelet and anklet. Rangu thatha holded me for the first time since my birth.
Mom & me missed my dad very much as he couldn’t make it from UK. We streamed the ceremony live through Skype for Sri mama and dad, unfortunately dad couldn’t catch up the whole function as it was too early in UK.  I was tired but not cranky as I was watched by all my relatives. Over all it was a happy occasion and yes i am now ready to go to my semman thottam house.

Lavann Crying

0-1 month:

My first visit after being discharged from hospital was to my house at Semman Thottam, Pappanaicken palayam. I received a very warm welcome including my name (Sai Krishna) drawn with rice flour in the entrance and decorated with flowers. All my neighbours visited me with gifts and spent few hours with Rangu Thatha & Guna Aatha. Rangu thatha decided to call me Sai Krishna as I was born on Gokulashtami Thursday.

These are some of the photos taken during my first four weeks.

I spend most of the time sleeping and hearing cows call and listening to birds chirping, even though I don’t know what cow and bird means in my grandparents (Vijayakumar & SathyaSundari ) house. Vijay thatha and Sathy paatti stayed back in Coimbatore for bringing me up during infancy, they found a quite village with lot of breeze and fresh air, the village is called Karuparayan palayam. They told me that I was very quiet, but I kept them busy as my Mom was still recovering from my birth.

My great grandma/grandpa travelled all the way from pattampalayam(where my Mom, Sri Mama and Sathy paatti were raised) to take care of me and my mom, . My mom and dad used to look after me during nights and Vijay thatha & Sathy paatti will take over the duty from 4 am and kollu paatti during the day.

I was called by various pet names like Mottee, Kutty Bujjii, Mayluu, Thangam, Thambi by Mom and others out of love and affection. I was bathed by Arukanni paatti and Palaniswamy thatha stayed for few weeks to help my grannies. Palaniswamy thatha was there when Vijay thatha was born in 1950’s and are our family friends for past 3 generations.

Dad was with me for only 17 days and left to Edinburgh. I was constantly visited by relatives and friends all the time and seen so many faces that I couldn’t remember any of them. Everyone told me that I more resemble my dad than mom. Mom used to take my pictures and videos every day to send it to Dad and Sri Mama, who lives in US. Sri Mama predicted my gender correctly by looking at my first scan and Lavan was one of the names he suggested.
